You moved into a house with a pre-installed home security system
Sometimes when people close on a house, a security system is already installed. All the components function well, are hung in the best spaces, and are ready to go. In this case, you might see that you have to call and start a new monitoring contract. A Vivint professional will still come to your home to ensure there are no integration problems, and they could offer ideas on an upgrade or two. It's a fast visit, and you can get your alarm monitoring set up without having a bill for any new components -- unless you get some new devices.
The outgoing owners can transfer an existing Vivint contract to you for a one-time transfer cost to make your life a snap. If the outgoing residents are moving to a condo or retirement community, turning over the Vivint contract may be a part of the sale.
You need to move and bring your existing equipment with you
You may need to take your existing smart devices with you to a new house when you move. That’s fairly easy to do, as modern alarms and smart devices are plug and play. You can uninstall each component yourself or use a professional expert to come and take care of everything. Then a pro will hang the same devices -- and any additions you need to put in -- in the new place. Your home security contract will keep the same.
